Lead-Safe Inspections serving Northwest Ohio

Licensed and Insured

On April 22, 2025, the Toledo, Ohio City Council voted in the Lead-Safe Ordinance.

A Lead-Safe Certificate is required for in-home daycares and 1-4-unit residential rental properties originally constructed prior to January 1, 1978.

The biggest changes to the new Lead-Safe Ordinance are about the City of Toledo Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCP).
  1. DHCP will issue the Lead-Safe Certificates
  2. DHCP will assume regulatory responsibility over the local lead inspectors. DHCP will audit the inspectors to make sure they are performing inspections properly.
  3. The first deadline due date is December 31, 2025.

Visit our Inspections Page and get more information about the Lead-Safe Ordinance, maps, and each phase's due dates. This will be updated shortly as soon as the information is posted online.
