Toledo, Ohio passed the Residential Rental Properties and Lead Safety Compliance Lead-Safe Ordinance requiring 1-4 rental units and family child-care homes to be inspected for lead paint issues. 

On January 28, 2025 the Ohio Supreme Court declined to hear the appeal concerning the litigation against the Lead-Safe Ordinance. The City of Toledo won the case and the litigation is OVER. The City of Toledo will vote in a new Lead-Safe Ordinance with new due dates. Enforcement could start at any time, but most likely will start with a new Lead-Safe Ordinance.
